The truth about airports and the reason they all die in car accidents.

10,000 ft up, the freeways look so small from here. The gray pavement over passing each other look like veins from here. The cars like pumping blood from here.

10,000 feet up, running on Delta's wifi. The veins and the blood running through them look petty from here.

I wish you could have been there, 10,000 ft up. The cars look like Hot Wheels and the people inside them like Legos. Smaller than I never want to be.

10,000 ft up, the freeways look like High School from here. 10,000 ft below, High School is HUGE, man. And you've been going straight down that gray pavement for so long you forget what exit 2014 south is going to feel like. But everyone's heading straight. We're just keeping up with traffic. "I was only following traffic, Officer".

10,000 ft up, I'm looking at the photos, wondering how I ever kept up with traffic, and if my blood looked like the blood does 10,000 ft below. Going nowhere but straight, down the gray pavement that looks too much the same color as 200 hall's bathroom stalls.

10,000 ft up, sunset through the window, just over the clouds. Looks like wine tasting and countries and hunger and hand holding.

"That's not my blood anymore," I tell you. "And those aren't my veins".
